Remember those days we spent in the north woods of the hills
We were washing ourselves in the riverbed
The fear of the mine was long gone
It'd given reason for some hope
You were always there
You were always there those days
The world has turned around
Remember those nights we spent there were enough of us to stay warm
We would listen to coyotes and snow owls
The next day you spent tracking those rabbits that you never caught
I often wonder what you're doing now
The world has turned around

We're lesser now. Hopeless and distraught.
The lights hang low. I just worry.
It's long since passed since I trusted myself.
Eyes toward the floor. There's no home here.
In the golden hour when you stayed by my side.
How you used to be--always looking forward.
Those days are over now, if they ever happened.
It was all a dream, only ever be.
A well-worn path mocks my best attempt.
Drilled in my head (but) there's no home here.
We've grown so numb. Dull colors blot our words.
Our only hope lies in the end.
In the golden hour when you stayed by my side.
How you used to be--always looking forward.
Those days are over now, if they ever happened.
It was all a dream, only ever be.

Not a day goes by where I feel like I'm in my own life.
It all blends to boring scrolling
Always waiting
Always hoping for change.
And every time that I start to believe
The world is changing
I may be growing
I don't recognize this hope that I can't believe in.
There's a phone in my hand and my eyes on the screen.
It's like I'm trying to make sense of a senseless routine.
And I know it gets worse and I know there's no hope.
I'm just grasping for air, maybe some way to cope.
There's a phone in my hand and my eyes on the screen.
It's like I'm trying to make sense of a senseless routine.
And I know it gets worse and I know there's no hope.
I'm just grasping for air, maybe some way to know.
There's always a new low.
There's always something worse
And I can't help but feel some satisfaction to say
Well hey I told you so.

I hope you've learned to feel
The loss of everything you've tried to put yourself into.
In time you'll learn to spend
Your years alone.
It's harder than you know.
I don't know where we go from here.
I don't know--I guess we've tried it all.
My heart, it still rings sour
With all the worry carried in the space between my hands.
But I am moving forward.
In time we can repent.
I don't know where we go from here.
I don't know--I guess we've tried it all.
It's harder than you know.

I look forward to the moment that comes.
And I am leaving a world of comfort and trust.
The path pulls away.
I step over the edge.
And plunge, finding air.
The rest lies ahead.
I've grown weary, inside my head for too long.
But if it's foolish, I'll pursue it 'til it's done.
The path crumbles down.
I choke and reach the edge.
I step, finding air
And float above the ground.
